If Mr Sanders fails to endorse Ms Clinton he will undermine his chances to become chairperson of the Senate Budget Committee when the Democrats retake the Senate. Moreover, he’ll lose any influence he might have over Democratic Party policy position at the Convention and otherwise.

As an experienced politician, Mr Sanders will make the correct political decision.

Mr Sanders most intractable supporters behave as if they were participants in a cargo cult. They will lash themselves, tear at their hair, and suck their thumbs in despair when he endorses Ms Clinton.
