Used to sing to the mountains

The more the campaign is about NDAs and tax returns, the more politics is trivialized and the more ridiculous Democrats look.

Populism will be the reason why we can’t have a nice Democratic President.

Tis weird that a candidate like Buttigieg, who has no apparent path to winning the nomination, is under such vicious attack from surrogates of other candidates who also lack a clear path to victory (i.e., Sanders and Warren). I suppose their outrage needed a new outlet after Beto quit.

It’s trendy to call Buttigieg a racist these days. So I wonder what to call this:

I think that having so many Southern states go first kind of distorts reality,” Sanders said during a taping of “The Nightly Show” on Comedy Central earlier this month …

As the field is weeded perhaps Klobuchar will attract more media attention. She doesn’t cry about lack of attention like Castro and Booker.

Darling Nikki Haley is definitely running and has just locked down the vote of the Confederacy.

Clinton wouldn’t have cut food stamps. But Berniebros/brosettes said there was no difference between Clinton and Trump.

So much for their political wisdom!

Pelosi puts her boots on the necks of Kremlin-affiliated Republicans.

Pence misses his old names: Son of perdition. Little horn! Most unclean!

Homeland is basically the Trump Russia/Ukrainegate + Tulsi Gabbard.

New christ cardiac hero

Tale of two candidates; first, Kamala Harris

The NY Times says her campaign is a mess and that it, in part, the problem is that it listened too much to Twitter punditry. This is likely true.

They allowed themselves to be seduced by the sirens’ song of the blue check wokeniki and their manichean (i.e., ironically religious) view of politics, spawned from identical educations at 1%er universities. (Here, I mean the wokeniki who write for Jacobin, Intercept, Splinternews, and other defunct spewsites).

But the problem began Ab ovo.

Harris’ opening attack on the popular former VP was a disaster. Yet, like those below Biden, she flailed in search of a coherent line of attack. She’s been undone by the wokeniki who turned her impressive legal career into a liability.

Harris stans like Joan Walsh will be devastated.

It didn’t take long for the wokeniki to celebrate the imminent demise of The Cop.

Tis’ a worthy distraction from the flagging hopes of the Vermont revolutionary.

The NY Times also takes glee in the demise of any candidate. Same thing happened with De Blasio. Same thing will happen with Klobuchar and Booker in the near future.

Now Buttigieg: his education plan is mocked by the wokeniki. Let’s examine.

Free higher ed up to $100k is reasonable and rational. Why should the 99% pay for the education of 1% sprogs? Where’s the socialism in that?!

The “critique” amounts to no more than this: means testing means being mean.

This passes as revolutionary wisdom now.

In NYC, Bill de Blasio installed universal pre-K for all. Ironically, Berniebros/brosettes and Warren stans mocked de Blasio’s candidacy.

Move over

The world will survive without Gawker, Splinternews, and Deadspin. And, it has to be said, no one seeking political insight turns to a sports journalist.

The world would be harmed irreparably if real journalistic ventures like the NY Times or WaPo were to fold.

That said: There’s a symbiotic relationship between the Times and WaPo on one side, and Trump on the other. Each benefits from other’s existence.

One of the US’s biggest exports under Trump is race hate.

When a meeting of Klansmen at the Emmett Till memorial becomes a pop-up Trump campaign rally.

At this stage, bubonic plague would top Trump by double digits. He’s political roadkill.

People are surprised Trump was booed at MSG last night. They apparently don’t realize that he stuck NYC with unpaid tax bills, ugly architecture, and several hundred cases of STDs.

Bern and Harris supporters react strongly whenever Buttigieg gets attention.

Bible-based companies tend to engage in shady business practices (see Under Amour).

“When Analytics Fails” could be the title of A. J. Hinch’s new book.

Any nineteenth-century writer or poet worthy of mention did opium and absinthe.

Everything’s not lost

Jacobin magazine is already attempting to cushion the inevitable disappointment of Berniebros/brosettes with a quote from Eugene Debs:

“It is infinitely better to vote for freedom and fail than to vote for slavery and succeed.” – Eugene Debs

The “losing is winning” mentality is Debs making a virtue of necessity.

After the rude welcome Trump received at a UFC event in NYC, Dana White will receive a tweetful of hate from the Big Bonespur.

Warren and Sanders lack a heavyweight in economics to legitimate their half statements about paying for M4A.

This is doubtless because they are riding the wave of anti-expertise ressentiment of the current populist moment.

The otherwise intelligent Dave Weigel recently referred to Clinton’s “gaffe” re coal miners in West Virginia.

Clinton’s gaffe?

Preliminary figures for 2018 show 80,778 people were employed by mine operators and contractors. That’s a record low, and about a thousand fewer than were employed by coal in the last year of the Obama administration.

Coal miners are dinosaurs.

As a student of the “Critique of the Gotha Program,” Bernie knows the proles must use the state to smash the bourgeoisie. Marx’s hostility to Bakunin followed from this. Likewise, Bern as no affinity with anarchism. Hence, no blathering about the deep state from his quarter.

Buttigieg’s plan for a plethora of “national service” programs, which would also function as a pre-requisite for future employment, sounds like the model for an American Stakhanovite.

Service is for knechts, serfs, and butlers in Merchant-Ivory films.

Let’s not make Deadspin out to be the NY Times or any other serious journalistic venture.

Finishing the hat

After today’s performance, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kamala Harris leapfrogs over Bernie Sanders in all the polls.

When William Barr lies, his dewlap swells.

Trump, Barr, and Pompeo have the same body type.

Senator John Kennedy is more senile than he looks.

Trump is next to receive the pointy end of justice.

Buttigieg checks the boxes Bernie can’t.

Politics is about winning.

President Tracksuit hangs on for a while longer in Venezuela.

Put Uday Trump in charge of Venezuela.

Showbiz types are petty.

Aside from hardcore gamblers and the mint julep/fancy dress crowd, the public largely ignores horse racing.

Once teachers are armed, MAGAstate legislators will be less likely to cut education funding.

Passive

The Gowanus Canal is like having a little piece of New Jersey in Brooklyn.

Wikileaks has a copy of the Mueller Report. For sale.

Billionaire DeVos cuts $18 million from Special Olympics.

Who will portray the miserable Markle father in the impending sitcom?

BernieBros don’t know what to make of Pete Buttigieg or how to destroy him. They obviously can’t play the misogyny card.
