Ring-a-ring o’ roses

Jerry Falwell Jr is a convenience store Christian.

The Boston Tea Party would be labeled fascist by today’s right and neoliberal/cultural appropriationist by today’s left.

Re Harris and Biden:

Busing (federally mandated or not) isn’t one that will flip the Senate or win Ohio, PA, and Wisconsin for Democrats. I can’t think of anyone who even talks about busing anymore. It is juicy journalistic clickbait though.

Integration (which is the point of busing) was deemed illegitimate during the rise of multiculturalism and the emphasis on difference in the 1980s/90s. It seems to be an odd issue to revive just for the sake of sticking it to Biden.

Busing has no political relevance today unless one of the Dems is pushing it (and I believe none of them are).

The problem for Harris is that Booker is riding her coattails on this issue and won’t let it die (even if Harris moves on from it).

However, Booker isn’t getting a bounce in poll numbers from his kerfuffle with Biden (his campaign barely has a pulse). Probably needs to shift tactics and targets.

Since Biden’s “bipartisanship” led to this dispute, one should note that it is a dead virtue because (1) right-wingers are no longer in the Democratic Party (see Robert Byrd, segregationist) and (2) it was easier to be bipartisan in the era of earmarks (which the GOP controlled Senate has banned under the influence of the House “Freedom Caucus”).

Jacobin Magazine says AOC is August Bebel 2.0.

Electoral college math suggests the election will be won or lost in Wisconsin, Michigan, PA, and Ohio, not Queens, NY.

Most NY Times pundits don’t do research and rely on projection and innuendo. One sees it in Stephens, Brooks, Bouie, and Dowd (to name a few).

The good news for Bernie Sanders: Eugene Debs received 6% of the popular vote once.

The bad news for Bernie Sanders: Eugene Debs received 6% of the popular vote once.

Without Democratic control of the Senate, impeachment is a sideshow. Let Tump be indicted and watch him turn himself into a fugitive of the law (like his his GRU-ally Assange). That would be a proper circus.

In his new budget, the Grifter asks Congress for $8.6 billion for his organized crime cronies in the construction industry.

Nothing says hate better than the face of a Cheney.

House Dems passed most important democracy reform bill in a generation today but it got fraction of attention of @Ilhan’s tweets

(1) because the House measure won’t become law; (2) because the profit driven media that employs him fixates on conflict, which draws eyeballs and clicks (i.e., media that is a version of MMA for political junkies).

How does the Republican Freedom Caucus support Trump’s emergency decree? Isn’t that the sort of tyranny these freedom loving patriots loathe?

If Trump wants increased military spending, he should at least start a war to justify it.

Presidential paresis

Paul Ryan was Boehnered by Tea Party Republicans.

The so-called Freedom Caucus is anti-government, which presents a paradox when it is in a position to govern.

Since 2010, Republicans have proven to be ungovernable.

The US is a nation of swindlers and rubes. Hence, the Trump Presidency.

Trump campaign promises scorecard:

  • Muslim ban (stalled in courts)
  • Southern border wall (no brick has been laid)
  • New plan to defeat IS (non-existent)
  • Repeal Obamacare (flatlined)
