Tale of two candidates; first, Kamala Harris
The NY Times says her campaign is a mess and that it, in part, the problem is that it listened too much to Twitter punditry. This is likely true.
They allowed themselves to be seduced by the sirens’ song of the blue check wokeniki and their manichean (i.e., ironically religious) view of politics, spawned from identical educations at 1%er universities. (Here, I mean the wokeniki who write for Jacobin, Intercept, Splinternews, and other defunct spewsites).
But the problem began Ab ovo.
Harris’ opening attack on the popular former VP was a disaster. Yet, like those below Biden, she flailed in search of a coherent line of attack. She’s been undone by the wokeniki who turned her impressive legal career into a liability.
Harris stans like Joan Walsh will be devastated.
It didn’t take long for the wokeniki to celebrate the imminent demise of The Cop.
Tis’ a worthy distraction from the flagging hopes of the Vermont revolutionary.
The NY Times also takes glee in the demise of any candidate. Same thing happened with De Blasio. Same thing will happen with Klobuchar and Booker in the near future.
Now Buttigieg: his education plan is mocked by the wokeniki. Let’s examine.
Free higher ed up to $100k is reasonable and rational. Why should the 99% pay for the education of 1% sprogs? Where’s the socialism in that?!
The “critique” amounts to no more than this: means testing means being mean.
This passes as revolutionary wisdom now.
In NYC, Bill de Blasio installed universal pre-K for all. Ironically, Berniebros/brosettes and Warren stans mocked de Blasio’s candidacy.
It’s great to reach the age when you realize other people’s problems with your identity are really other people’s problems, not yours.
Then they can be easily and absolutely dismissed, banished to the limbo of bad theory and infantile ethics.
The saffron Mussolini will be seated in the Nats’ ballpark.
Speaking of which, the Deferment President described the demise of al-Baghdadi as follows:
He had dragged 3 of his young children with him. He reached the end of the tunnel as our dogs chased him down. He ignited his vest, killing himself and the 3 children.
I imagine that’s also how Donnie’s reign will end.
A million NRA hearts are broken as Maria Butina is deported back to her GRU desk job in Russia.
People are upset with Bernie Sanders over the answer he gave to a question about how to handle potentially violent interactions with the police. One has to remember that for Bern, police officers are part of the working class. Thus, they are part of his revolution.
Bill Maher is upset Hillary Clinton owned Tbilisi Gabbard who then owned herself by moving towards a third party bid (as predicted by Hillary Clinton).
Bern had to come to the defense of one of his leading surrogates (Gabbard) or risk the charge of disloyalty from his cultish followers. He apparently doesn’t care that a fleet of Russian bots and other GRU measures have been launched to support Tulsi.
The Joker could just as well be Michael Tracey or Jeet Heer or anyone who writes for The Intercept, Jacobin magazine, or the defunct Splinternews.
I think all pundits and professional journalists are anxious to see Biden fall and someone else rise (Warren, Bern, even Buttigieg or Wang) just so they’ll have something interesting to write about. If Biden were to cruise to victory, the media bottom line would suffer.
Everyone is watching the debate to see if Tulsi Gabbard speaks in Russian.
Harold Bloom no longer matters. He lost the war over “the canon.”
Jeet Heer managed to complete and tweet his senior thesis on Bloom, The Joker, Scorsese, and castration anxiety.
Even Michael Corleone testified in open Senate session.
Man up, Don Giuliani.
According to Jacobin magazine, Trump’s noble savages are not really responsible for Trumpism, only the super elite. And Obama.
Their “progressive views” on the economy apparently include racist views about racial/ethnic minorities and foreigners.
Compared to the Trump Crime Family’s business dealings at home and abroad, Hunter Biden is a paragon of virtuous entrepreneurial behavior.
The chav Eggsy is the prototype for Trump’s MAGAts.
Many parole violations would have occurred had Trump maintained accurate White House visitor logs.
Colleges are not job training centers.
Libertarianism is the political boutique tendency.
Only naive EFF types thought the “web” could ever be non-toxic.
Elisabeth Moss needs to come under more scrutiny.
Bernie was one of the few New Left who didn’t break with the CCCP. He did march with Dr King, though.
Xenophobia and garden variety cultural ressentiment: the elixir of populism.
The question is whether populist outrage, as channeled by Sanders, is a winning strategy? Didn’t work for him in 2016 and it’s not working for him so far for 2020.
Bern’s anger-based politics has him in danger of slipping behind Warren.
D’Souza is another example of why it isn’t good to give felons the franchise. (see Flynn, Manafort, Limbaugh).
Für uns, gibts nicht.
Conservatives tend to resort to symbolic or physical violence when they don’t get their way.
Pretty much the bio statement of every Incel.
New Poll: A very old man trails an old man in Iowa.
Too bad journalists didn’t anticipate the impact of social media on the communication tactics of politicians, who can reach the audience w/o unfiltering and w/o the sometimes suspect “narratives” of profit seeking news corps. Perhaps they’ll find new ways to report.
When it comes to journalism, verifiability is good. So is neutrality.
Journalists are in no position to decide which side is more legitimate, and have no means of justifying their judgment. Let the reader decide.
No one wants a pre-digested version of reality.
Captain Marvel is better than the comic book film that was nominated for Best Picture.
Only arms manufacturers want teachers to be strapped.
Fox News is indistinguishable from RT. They share the same business model.
I wonder if the Mar-a-Lago Madame was present when Trump held a “summit” with China’s Xi in 2017.
If losing is winning, then Trump is a big loser.
The descendants of Warren Harding are thankful for Trump.
Re his counterpart: what’s ironic is Sanders uses the Democratic Party when it is convenient to him, but then inveighs against the Party’s rules. He lacks the courage to run for president as an independent.
I’m not sure what power Rep. Omar has besides trafficking in reprehensible conspiracy theories. I don’t see any legislation coming from her corner, which would be what power in Congress entails, not just street corner cred.
Picking dumb fights using boorish rhetoric is not a winning strategy. Although it worked for Trump. Maybe he’s her political role model. She’s already started in on Obama.
Max Rose may be the only one of the newbie Democrats to amount to something in terms of legislation.
Kids is brills, as is Spring Breakers.
People ask me why Trump is consorting with the south Florida madame. Realize he can’t just pop into Scores like he used to.
The professional outragetariat are up in arms about Alyssa Milano, who identified herself in various ways.
I’m trans. I’m a person of color. I’m an immigrant. I’m a lesbian. I’m a gay man. I’m the disabled.
I’m everything. And so are you, Kirk.
Don’t be afraid of what you don’t know or understand. No one wants to hurt you. We are all just looking for our happily ever after.
Do they really think Milano needs their permission (or anyone else’s) to speak her mind and identify herself as she pleases?
